Home safety, including connected devices
A useful home review considers who can enter the property and who can access its connected systems. We start with your concerns.
Before changing locks or connected devices
Changes can affect other occupants or become visible through device alerts. If a partner or ex may react, discuss a safety plan first.
Ask your landlord or an appropriate adviser about permissions before arranging physical changes.
Questions a review can explore
- Who has physical access to the home and its entry systems?
- Who can view connected cameras or doorbells?
- Are home devices linked to shared accounts?
- Who manages the router and other connected equipment?
- What happens if the internet or power stops working?
You do not need to answer these questions before contacting us. They help define the scope of a review.
What the service involves
In-person home safety reviews are available in Sydney. We confirm access arrangements and the scope before booking.
We discuss the quote and appointment length before any paid work. Recommendations and findings are provided in writing.
We ask for your agreement before making changes. A review does not certify a property as safe or guarantee detection of recording devices.
If you suspect a hidden device
Avoid dismantling unfamiliar equipment. If you may need evidence, ask police how to preserve it before making changes.
Read our tracker and recording-device guide for the limits of a physical sweep.
The 1800RESPECT device safety guide explains risks involving connected home technology.
